Optimization of pretreatment in delignification of hyacinth biomass for ethanol production

نویسندگان

چکیده

Water hyacinth ( Eichhornia crassipes ) is one of the potential feedstocks for bioethanol production due to their higher cellulose content. It needs optimization pretreatment remove lignin and release hemicellulose from lignocellulosic complex. Pretreatment was done using sulfuric acid, sodium hydroxide, calcium hypochlorite as soaking agents. Experiment carried out at 121 °C 15 minutes. with 1% acid decreased by 6.74%, 4.0% hydroxide reduced content 11.23%, whereas 0.3% removed 8.30% original substrate. Therefore, showed highest efficacy in delignification processes, followed hypochlorite, pretreatments. Keywords: Lignin reduction; Lignocellulose; Pretreatment;

Optimization of dilute acid pretreatment of water hyacinth biomass for enzymatic hydrolysis and ethanol production

The present study was conducted for the optimization of pretreatment process that was used for enzymatic hydrolysis of lignocellulosic biomass (Water Hyacinth, WH), which is a renewable resource for the production of bioethanol with decentralized availability. Response surface methodology has been employed for the optimization of temperature ((o)C), time (hr) and different concentrations of mal...

Enzymatic hydrolysis of water hyacinth biomass for the production of ethanol: optimization of driving parameters.

An efficient conversion of lignocellulose into fermentable sugars is a key step in producing bioethanol in a cost effective and eco-friendly manner. Alternative source like water hyacinth biomass (WHB) (Eichhornia crassipes) may be used as a supplement for the routine feedstocks. The enzyme loading for optimum yield of total reducing sugar was investigated and the enzyme-substrate interaction o...

Hydrothermal pretreatment conditions to enhance ethanol production from poplar biomass.

Pretreatment has been recognized as a key step in enzyme-based conversion processes of lignocellulose biomass to ethanol. The aim of this study is to evaluate two hydrothermal pretreatments (steam explosion and liquid hot water) to enhance ethanol production from poplar (Populus nigra) biomass by a simultaneous saccharification and fermentation (SSF) process. The composition of liquid and solid...
